Fellow - Matcha Set

Fellow brought the same thinking that reshaped coffee brewing to matcha. The Matcha Set is a complete station – bowl, bamboo whisk, ceramic whisk stand, stainless steel spoon and sifter, and a ceramic tea tray to hold it all – designed so the ritual feels natural rather than fussy, and so the whole thing earns its place on the counter instead of living in a cupboard.

The detail that matters most is the sifter. Matcha clumps in the tin, and clumps are what make a bowl gritty no matter how hard you whisk. Sifting before water touches the powder is the single step that separates a smooth, creamy bowl from a lumpy one – and most sets leave it out.

• Bowl – ceramic with a pouring spout, shaped for comfortable holding and unobstructed whisking (the Matte White version has a frosted glass bowl).
• Whisk – lightweight bamboo with an ergonomic handle for properly aerated froth.
• Whisk stand – ceramic, holds the tines splayed so the whisk dries in shape and lasts far longer.
• Spoon – weighted 18/8 stainless steel for accurate, repeatable scooping.
• Sifter – finely etched stainless steel that breaks up clumps for a silky blend.
• Tea tray – ceramic with silicone feet, keeping the set arranged and stable.

• Sift roughly 2 g of matcha (1–2 spoons) through the sifter into the bowl – sweep the powder gently across the holes with the back of the spoon rather than pressing down.
• Add water just off the boil, around 80°C. Boiling water scorches matcha and turns it bitter.
• Whisk briskly in a W or M motion until a fine, creamy foam forms on the surface.
• Drink from the bowl, or pour through the spout over 150 ml cold milk or 230 ml steamed milk for a matcha latte.
