Founded in Tokyo in 1921 by Hiromu Shibata, Hario takes its name from the Japanese for "King of Glass" – and it earned it. The company began making laboratory glassware and remains the only heatproof glass manufacturer in Japan with its own factory, melting glass electrically in a smokestack-free plant using refined natural minerals.
Its first household product was the coffee syphon in the late 1940s. The V60 dripper followed in 2005 after a long process of trial and error, and went on to become the most widely used pour-over brewer in the world – the only dripper to have won the World Brewers Cup title repeatedly. The original ceramic V60 is still produced in Arita, a town with a 400-year porcelain tradition.
Every Hario product at Coffeedesk is genuine Japanese-made stock, with delivery across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the wider UAE.
